President's Message

I welcome you to the website of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.  The Academy, founded in 1987, is comprised of highly accomplished engineers and is dedicated to serving the interests of society in matters related to engineering.  This includes supporting sustainable stewardship of natural resources and the environment, public safety, reliable infrastructure, leading-edge research and development, and a well-functioning economy based on advanced technology.

The Academy has developed a new Strategic Plan, which will guide its future actions.  I invite you to read it.  Central to the Plan is our commitment to provide Insight, Inspiration and Influence (I3) to the members of the Academy and to the public-at-large.  The Academy will address the great challenges of our time and help to create a better world.

The Academy works in close collaboration with other academies in Canada and abroad, most notably the members of the Council of Canadian Academies and the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences (CAETS).  We have close relations with Engineers Canada and the Canadian Engineering Leadership Forum.

This website contains recent news about the Academy, including the 2009 CAETS convocation held in Calgary, reports and useful links to related sites of interest.  Members have access to information on Academy operations and the members directory.
